Bring a classic asparagus variety to your edible garden with these Mary Washington dormant plant roots from Expert Gardener. This set of 4 is grown for perennial garden planting, so it comes back over time with the right care. Mary Washington is an heirloom variety dating to 1919 and is known for uniform size, fuller flavor, and resistance to asparagus rust. Asparagus is one of the first vegetables harvested in spring, making it a rewarding choice for gardeners who want fresh homegrown crops from an outdoor planting bed. This open-pollinated variety can also reproduce from female flowers in the growing bed, helping your planting expand over the years.
- Set includes 4 dormant Mary Washington asparagus plant roots for outdoor growing.
- Full sun plants suited for USDA Hardiness Zones 3-8, helping you match this variety to your garden conditions.
- Mature plants can reach up to 5 ft tall; water when dry as part of basic care.
- Edible, garden-ready, GMO Free, and easy to grow for an edible garden planting.
- Early-season harvest variety with spears that can be grilled, roasted, sautéed, blanched, or frozen for later use.
- Asparagus is listed as a good source of fiber, vitamins A, C, K, and E, folate, and potassium.
